Welcome to International performer and recording artist Joe Heinemann’s official website. Joe started his love affair with the piano at age seven, seriously studying Classical Music continuously for twelve years with the finest teachers available. He graduated after three years of high school to immerse himself in a full curriculum of music in college. He then spent one year at the Conservatory of Music in San Francisco after which he eagerly pursued a professional career in jazz. Since age fifteen, Joe has played professionaly in many solo and group settings, in virtually all styles, while also developing a unique and individual style. He has been a consummate sideman on the West Coast and Europe, performing and recording with artists such as Charlie Musselwhite, Robert Cray, Archie Shepp, Eddie Harris, John Fahey, Steve Miller and Curtis Salgado. In the relatively short time Joe has been living full time in San Francisco, he has played with James Ingram and Patti Austin (under the direction of Quincy Jones), Narada Michael Walden, Robben Ford, Ronnie Montrose, Joe Satriani, Tommy Johnston, Greg Kihn, Chris Cain, Maria Muldaur, and many more. He has also shared the stage with Albert Collins, Bonnie Raitt, Elvin Bishop, Pete Escovedo, among others. Throughout his career Joe has been a leader of his own groups. He has four CD’s under his name with many original compositions. The title song from his first recording “Straight Ahead” won top ten honors in Jazzizz Magazine’s national contest for keyboardists. The song was part of a compilation CD distributed by the magazine, exposing Joe’s fiery jazz trio to a world-wide audience. Joe now dedicates his time locally to pass on what he’s learned from his training and wide ranging performing and recording experiences. He has taught for many years and is patient and friendly in his teaching style, while instilling the importance of the basics and discipline. Joe spends his time now as a concert performer, recording studio artist and private piano instructor teaching at Gelb Music in Redwood City. |
