Bach Inspired Pieces

On the afternoon of June 15th, 2005 I sat at the keyboard with a book of Bach Coral's and randomly opened pages to one I thought looked good and started improvising from the notes on the page. Then I would find another one and so on. I'm pretty sure these were all done in one sitting with maybe the exception of the last few (all are in chronological order). I wanted to keep many aspects of the style in place including using no pedal except for little amounts in #13 and #14. I had a lot of fun taking the contrapuntal voices to different places on the fly. Needless to say, these pieces are sublime and harmonically perfect in their original form. That made it all the more interesting to use them as a springboard for some improvisation. They are here for free download. Enjoy.
